For the price point it's disappointing. The first glaring issue is the hardware. Since this is intended for a specific bike, the hardware should reflect that, not just the standard black coated hex-head stuff. A BMW R1200/1250 GS uses stainless torx-head style hardware. For the price, it just reflects an indifference or intentional cheapness to throw in the hardware that was included. The second glaring issue is in the engineering design. The sales pitch it that this will add adjustability to the windscreen. The inference is that it will not remove the original adjustability, but that's exactly what the side brackets do - they lock the original adjustment leaving you with just the adjustable portion from Madstad. The diagrams showing the slot in each side bracket that would allow the original adjustable movement is not present in the ones received. So really all this system does is lock your BMW adjustable control to one position and transfers all adjustment to the Madstad brackets that utilizes hardware the is specific to it and not present anywhere else on the bike requiring its own specific tools for any service or removal. For ~$75 for a pair of stamped metal brackets and cheap hardware this would be acceptable. For nearly $300 it is definitely not.
I got the dark tinted version at 24” and I’m pretty happy with it. I’m 6’4” with a long torso so I sit up pretty high. The turbulence is definitely not completely gone like being in a car or something, but it’s a massive improvement. I can listen on my Sena with no earplugs and not feel like I’m losing my hearing every day.
All the pressure is off my chest. The very top of my helmet could use maybe 1 more inch of windshield if I was being picky.
I thought it was going to look like an absolute barn door riding down the freeway but it’s not bad and the way Madstad cut the windshield, it blends fairly nicely into the bike.
Just buy it if you can afford it. You won’t regret it.
Great windshield, good instructions, easy install, quality product!
I just got the 14” windscreen installed on my 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R, and I was just out for a ride going 80 mph with my visor up and no earplugs. Works outstanding, major improvement over the factory one! FYI: I’m 5’9” with about 3/4” shaved off the factory seat.

★★★★★Johann Borenstein“Before their install, I suffered from the constant, unmitigated buffeting at speeds above 40 mph. Now I can hear the engine, and that's a sound I like!"
★★★★★Murphy Motors“I have a stack of other windshields. I've bought over the years before I discovered the Madstad system, and none of them compare. Do yourself a favor and just buy the Madstad first!"
★★★★★Scott Beal“Long rides at freeway speeds were the worst because of the buffeting. I installed the 18" Madstad screen, keeping it at the lowest setting, and the buffeting is gone. I now have a nice quiet air flow around my head and upper torso, regardless of speed.”
